Tallman Photo > Typical roofing in Peru. If I remember correctly a typical roof like this uses around 300-500 ceramic pieces which cost 1/s each. In old days grass roofs were used, but had to be replaced every 6-7 years.

Tallman Photo > The Qorikancha located near the main square in Cusco. Inside contains some of the Inca's finest stonework that has endured numerous earthquakes over the years with little damage. A testament to Inca masonry. The Spanish tore down part of the Inca structure and build the Church of Santo Domingo directly on top. Part of the Spanish structure blocks sunlight used by Incas in special light rooms.
